Welcome to my home
page! No pointless
graphics here! I find that the web has far too much glitz and not enough
content. In addition to my home page, I also have a news
page that I read every morning with links to Macintosh industry news
and other fun stuff (like comics).
People, Places and Things.
- Owen Ewald. Ph.D.
candidate in Classics at the University of Washington.
- Aaron Logue. A fellow black belt
at my school. Nice guy with a somewhat bent sense of humor.
- Christ
Episcopal Church, Seattle. A wonderful church if you're into that sort
of thing. No one telling you what to think, but many friendly people interested
in exploring spirituality using the Christian contempletive traditions
and drawing energy from that to reach out into the community with compassion.
Part of the Episcopal Diocese
of Olympia. Also, check out the new Canterbury program home
page.
- Phi Tau Co-Educational
Fraternity. Where I hung out as an undergraduate at Dartmouth. Not
your average fraternity, and has links to many other college friends of
mine.
- Westwind Computing. The best
Macintosh repair people in Seattle; they also sell equipment and set it
up.
- Metro's Riderlink
Page. Online Seattle Bus Schedules and routes. All they need now is
to have a web client on the buses...On a related note, the Seattle Freeway
congestion page
is also really useful.
- Bartlett High School.
My sweetie's high school in Anchorage, Alaska. Looks better than my
school's page.
- FedEx Airbill Tracking
Form. One of the most gratifying web pages I know. Just type in the
tracking number for your package and you can trace its entire route from
sender to your door.
- ACM RISKS Forum. An onging
discussion of why you should be very paranoid about technology.
Random Personal Information
Where are you from?
Well, that's kind of complicated. I was born in Britain of English parents,
so that means I'm from England. I moved to the US when I was about 4 because
my father worked for IBM (which in the
60's stood for "I've Been Moved") I grew up in upstate New York
until about age 14 when I was packed off to boarding school. I then spent
about 12 years in New England being educated (passive verb) before I decided
to leave and come out to Seattle. I've been here since 1989 and as long
as the US remains socially stable (a dubious proposition) I intend to stay
here as it is a nice town. If things start to degenerate further, I think
I will keep going west. At the current rate of progress (8 time zones/33
years) I should be able to die in England at about age 99. Its nice to have
a goal.
What do you do for a living?
Basically, I'm a geek: I write software for
a living. Its an souless trade, but someone has to do it. More specifically,
I'm a Macintosh programmer, which in Seattle is kind of like owning a Honda
body shop in Flint, MI. Recently, I've started a company with my friend
Dav Lion called Electric
Fish, Inc. and we would be happy to talk to you about doing Macintosh
development.
What do you do for fun?
For the last 16 years I have been studying Tae-Kwon-Do,
a traditional Korean martial art in which I have a third degree black belt.
My instructor is Sixth Dan Ms.
Nhumey Tropp, the Head Instructor at Seattle
Martial Arts in Greenwood.
My other regular activity is singing (first tenor) in my church choir. My
voice isn't too great, but I spent my adolescence trying to sing along with
various squeaky rock stars, so I stretched my upper range pretty well.
Sex, Politics and Religion
Straight, but not narrow; Christian Anarchist; Episcopalian.
